Job Description
A reputable NGO working with value chain stakeholders and in collaboration with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, is looking for a suitable qualified goal-oriented and results-driven person for appointment as an Accountant/Office Manager.
The Accountant / Office Manager will take part in the strategic administration of the organization, in accordance with its goals, objectives, work plans and procedures. He will be in charge of the following activities :
* Administration
* Accounting
* Website management
Reports to: The Executive Secretary.
Duties and responsibilities
Administration
1. Providing general administrative and office support services to the organization.
2. Implementing membership drives.
3. Preparing correspondence.
4. Managing an efficient filing system of GRIB documentation and correspondence.
5. Operation and maintenance of office equipment and communication tools.
6. Maintaining anadequate inventory of office equipment and supplies.
7. Performing general clerical duties and respond to public enquiries.
8. Perform other administrative duties, as may be assigned by the Executive Secretary.
Accounting
1. Prepare, monitor, manage, record and report all financial transactions of the organization in line with annual budget lines and in accordance with accounting standards, relevant procedures and the organization’s goals, objectives and work plans.
2. Monitor expenditures on various budget lines vs. budget allocations.
3. Handle, process, and disburse petty cash expenditure.
4. Report all petty cash disbursement to Executive Secretary prior to reimbursement.
5. Get authorization for all financial transaction from the Executive Secretary prior to disbursement.
6. Coordinating the procurement of office and project logistics.
7. Prepare financial reports.
8. Perform any other accounting function and office management function that may be assigned by the Executive Secretary.
Website management
1. Participate to the development of the organization’s database and website.
2. Manage the organization’s website.
3. Raising of funds : selling of adverts space on the organization’s website and newsletters, participation to the development of income generating activities.
Required Skills or Experience
1. A minimum of HND qualification or level II professional qualification in CA, CIMA, ICSA.
2. Experience / skills in database and website development and management.
3. A minimum of two years relevant working experience in the following areas :
* Accounting and reporting.
* Database and website development and management.
* Administration.
4. Experience / knowledge of international funding agencies procedures will be considered as an asset.
5. Computer literate : Word, excellent command of Excel and accounting software, database software, website creation and management, Internet.
6. Language skills : English.
7. Personal skills : reliable, ability to meet deadlines, dedicated to work, team player, results oriented, fast learner and interpersonal skills.
