The National Library of Nigeria is the apex Library in the country. It was established by Act No. 29 of 1970 and has responsibility for the development and provision of Library and Information Services in Nigeria.
This specialized professional institution invites applications from suitably qualified, mature and motivated candidates, with excellent work ethics and attitudes, to fill the following vacant positions:
Programme Analysts and Data Processing Officers.
Responsibilities
Manage the services provided by the internet calc end-to-end. Customer service.
• Administration of workstations
• Billing and making necessary accounts.
• Periodic reporting on the activities of the cyber cafe on a quarterly and annual basis,
• Maintenance of all PC’S and the network in the cyber cafe.
• Provision of lT advice ISUpp0l1 to internal office staff on an ad-hoc basis.
• Monitor internet use to ensure communication is maintained and that there is no downtime. Monitor and restrict download of inappropriate content that can compromise the entire network.
• Liaise with internet service providers (lSPs) in case of downtime on internet or c-mails.
• Ensure daily server maintenance.
• Assist users in need.
• Any other duties assigned by the Head of lCT.
Competences
• A minimum 2-3 years experience in cyber cafe management
• Strong analytical and organizations skills
• Excellent Communication Skills with good knowledge of Customer Service.
• In-depth interest in IT support and must be IT savvy.
• Basic knowledge of networking.
• Familiar with Window environment.
• Experience in troubleshooting and repairing of Pcs.
• Posses analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Possess high level of understanding in respect to both hardware and sof1ware related issues.
• OS Setup and configuration.
• PC/Notebook Deployment.
• Knowledge of Microsoft office Suite.
Academic and Professional Qualifications
-Programme Analysts
Applicants are required to possess B.5c. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Information Technology. In addition, have excellent, demonstrable computer skills and experience in same field.
- Data Processing Officers
The applicants are required to possess Ordinary National Diploma in Computer Studies or Data Processing from Institutions recognized by Government.
Experience
Practical experience of2-6 years.
Entry point shall depend on experience and qualification.
CONDITIONS OF SERVICE
The posts are on permanent and pensionable status, but new entrants into the service will be on probationary appointment for the first two years before their appointments may be confirmed, subject to satisfactory performance on the job. Other conditions of service are as obtained in institutions operating the Consolidated Tertiary Institutions Salary Scale (CONTISS) and the approved staff conditions of service of the National Library Board.
