Closing date for applications: 30th April 2010Role PurposeTo provide comprehensive on-site and telephonic software and hardware support for Virgin Atlantic in
Kenya. Providing support for head office, airport, engineering and cargo sites.

Responsibilities
Novell Server Administration
Creating, editing and removal of user accounts.

Managing permissions.

Editing login scripts.

Organisation of data.

Creating home directories.

Mapping drives.

Lotus Notes Server Administration
Creating and removing e-mail addresses.

Renaming users.

Maintaining mail groups.

Recertifying ID files.

Monitoring mail routing and tracing mail delivery.

Maintaining Databases.

Fixing corrupted databases.

Restoring e-mail messages that have been lost.

Troubleshooting system problems.

NT Server Administration
Adding user and group accounts to the network.

Creating account policies.

Resetting, unlocking and modifying accounts.

Securing network resources with permissions.

Setting up network printers.

Setting up roaming profiles for each user.

Setting up DHCP and WINS.

Maintaining DNS.

Reservations Systems
Setting up and configuring both Shares and Galileo systems.

Making sure that downtime is kept to a minimum by understanding how the system works and being able to troubleshoot system problems.

Managing Static TA numbers on both systems.
Monitoring Print Servers
Reloading and configuring EASYPRINT

Resetting print queues that are paused

Application Support
The support loading and configuration of all software packages used by Virgin Atlantic which include: MS Office, Windows 98/XP, NT workstation and server ; all Citrix applications e.g.: Freeway, Randi, Aires scanner ; Novell client ; Lotus Notes ; Outlook ; Shares ; Essbase ; Oracle; Vital ; Word ; Excel ; PowerPoint ; AS400 ; Avenue ; Agent Impact proxy server and antivirus software.

Maintenance of Anti-Virus
Loading and configuring antivirus on all machines.

Downloading and installing weekly updates.

Updating software with new updates and patches The removal of new viruses.

Proxy Server
Delegating access to the internet.

Studying log files when necessary.

Setting up and configuring proxy server.

Backing Up and Restoring Data
The backing up of all data on both NT and Novell servers. This includes each users e-mail, personal data and all shared folders.

Changing both Novell and NT tapes on a daily basis.

Restoring any data that has been lost or corrupted.

Using the Arcserve software package to achieve this.

Purchasing Equipment
Getting quotes for new equipment and for the repair of faulty equipment.

Sourcing and facilitation of new equipments when needed.

Sourcing and facilitation of parts to repair equipment.

Logging Calls
Telkom – Any data lines that go down need to be logged.

Dimension Data – All maintenance calls including UPS, airconditioners, power issues etc.

Comparex – All ticket and boarding pass printers.

MIT – All desktop and server hardware.

London helpdesk - All issues with Virgin applications.

Maintenance of Desktops
Fault finding and fixing any HARDWARE or SOFTWARE issues.

Reloading a full image when operating system is faulty

Patching of Phone and Data Lines
Reading patching schedules.

Patching of data lines on the patch panel.

Moving phone extensions.

Updating patching schedules.

Voicemail
Setting up and configuring new voice mailboxes.

Access Control
Assigning access to the building by configuring access cards.

UPS and Generator
Full understanding of how both systems work.

Bypassing the system and forcing a manual start.

Non IT issues
Upkeep of AC's, Radios, Security System, Fire Suppression system etc.

Sourcing and facilitating of new service contracts when needed.

Ensuring all services are completed as indicated on the service contracts

Requirements
3 year degree/diploma in relevant field

A+ and Novell Certification

Novell/Lotus Notes and Outlook administrator

Advance Telcom Knowledge

4-5 years working experience in the IT industry and project/team administration experience.

Support all application softwares (see under Application Support above)

Compaq Certification.

MCSE Certification.

Maintenance of all equipment and IT hardware.

Ability to communicate well at all levels.

Be an enthusiastic team player with dedication and drive

Should be flexible with working hours. May be required to work odd hours.
