Transparency International (TI) is the civil society organisation leading the global fight against corruption. TI currently has about 100 National Chapters around the world. Its International Secretariat is based in Berlin, Germany.

Transparency International Secretariat is looking for a Senior Research Coordinator to coordinate its programme on measuring corruption, focusing on its global tools (Corruption Perceptions Index, Bribe Payers Index, Global Corruption Barometer) and assisting in the development of new tools as well as the implementation of measurement tools by TI’s National Chapters. This position requires a high-level of demonstrated empirical research experience as well as strong project management skills. It also demands good training and presentation skills to explain TI tools within and outside the TI movement.
Job Title: Senior Research Coordinator, Measuring Corruption
Full-time position (2-year limited-term contract)
Main function: Coordinate TI programmes on measuring corruption, including the Corruption Perceptions Index, Bribe Payers Survey and Global Corruption Barometer, assist in the development of new tools and their implementation by TI National Chapters
Department: Policy and Research, within the Advocacy Group
Reporting lines: Reports to the Programme Manager, Research
Location: TI-Secretariat Berlin, Germany, with some international travel
Key responsibilities:
* Coordinate the TI global measuring corruption tools programme (Corruption Perceptions Index, Bribe Payers Index, Global Corruption Barometer and others), including managing research consultants, handling and analysing quantitative data, and assisting in the write-up and promotion of the studies
* Provide support to TI National Chapters and TI staff on measurement tools
* Assist in the development of new corruption measurements
* Develop and enhance contacts with relevant institutions and specialists
* Enhance internal and external communication on the subject of measuring corruption
* Liaise with TI’s Index Advisory Committee and relevant donors
* Oversee project budget(s) and perform the necessary administrative functions to ensure functioning of the programme
* Fundraise to ensure sustainable funding of current and new projects
Knowledge, Experience and Skills:
* An advanced university degree, or equivalent, in the social sciences, such as economics, political science, development studies or international relations
* Minimum 5-7 years of professional work experience
* In-depth knowledge of empirical governance and corruption studies, indices and surveys
* Strong knowledge and experience of empirical research methodologies, including statistical methods and data analysis
* Strong project management skills, including fundraising, budgeting, coordination, donor financial reporting and M&E.
* Familiarity with the current anti-corruption discourse
* Strong research, writing and editing skills
* Experience in public speaking and training
* Ability to work in a team as well as independently
* Fluency in written and spoken English
* Extensive knowledge of a major statistical software package, MS-Office and related applications.
TI Secretariat reserves the right to appoint to another staff level subject to education and qualifications.
